We're in Bhubaneswar, after the long train ride. Got in last night about 10pm. Great day today, moving hotels, arranging a place in the tiger park, viewing the cream of the local temples and touring an interesting museum of the Orissa tribal groups. African roots of the latter very obvious. We lucked out again with the timing of a major dance festival that started last night. We will see several performances tonight. A Punjabi troupe was staying at our hotel and D. accosted them this morning, leading to an impromptu demonstration (including D.) We have been invited to visit them in Punjab but doubt we will have time. It seemed to be a big honor for them to have pictures taken with us. We've never felt so popular.

Sounds wonderful. Yes it is warm here and not much snow. I am trying to get my brain working again after working nights and oh yeah, the blow to the head from my fight with the treadmill. love, Alanna
ReplyDeleteDana is in her element with all the dancing and colorful attire. I am glad the dehydration medication is working for you Roger...don't wait to long to take it! Remember our friend Jim ended up in the hospital in Laos because he waited to take the cipro (sp?) until it was too late!
ReplyDeleteInteresting trip! Interesting here too-I was working in your back 40 by the wood pile and looked down on the ground and there sat a 14K gold men's wedding ring. John thinks it is his-the one the burglar stole 15 years ago because it fits him! Met the neighbor who owns Lols house next door. Watch out for the tigers . Can't wait for the movies os D. dancing! Be safe Your pal Sal
ReplyDeleteThat's my ring, Sally! Bless your lil Texas heart for finding it.
ReplyDeleteBy the look of things I'm going to have to do about three or four one hour DVDs and show them in a series of India evenings - with dinners - for the real diehards. Don't tell Dana I even thought about that. Roger
John is so disappointed!! It is amazing it did not get gathered up with the yard debris! Must be God working really hard. I am just sick we are going to miss the Tiger photos. Can you find any more sticks? Can we send some to you? Your gold finding pal Sal
ReplyDeleteI might be able to find sticks, Sal, but assume that they'll just pick up the virus. It's a pretty common thing apparently, at least in India. Intriguingly, it only affects PCs, not MACs,and MACs are amost nonexistent in India, so one can't help but suspect those subversive MAC users.
