Our route - maybe.

Starting in Mumbai we will go NE to the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, then back to Mumbai. From there we'll go south to Goa, and generally make a counterclockwise loop around the country, using the train wherever possible.
After a short side-trip to Hampi east of Goa, we'll head down to Kerala, across to Tamil Nadu, then up the east coast. We may or may not go to Orissa. We will try some game parks in the SE until we see a tiger, and also take in the erotic statues at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, then spend some time in Vernasi. We may do a quick visit to the Taj at Agra, depending on how much time we have, but we were their in 79. We will then go west to Rajasthan, and after seeing as much as we can there, head back to Delhi for our flight home. We plan to be quite flexible, so there could be major changes. We'll add State maps for each section.
